Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the federal government to release local government allocations for the state without further delay. He said there is no legal basis for the continued withholding of the funds.
The controversy follows the February council elections in Osun, which were boycotted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP). The polls were held despite a directive from the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, who advised Adeleke to suspend the process after a court ruling reinstated previously sacked APC chairmen.

Gov. Adeleke maintained that the elections conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission were valid and that the PDP-elected chairmen and councillors remain the rightful authorities at the local government level.
He commended the Osun council of obas and the Nigerian Bar Association for backing calls for the release of the allocations, stressing that his administration would continue to uphold the rule of law and defend the rights of Osun people.
