At least 15 farmers have been killed in a fresh attack on seven villages in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Local leaders say the assailants stormed the communities on Monday night, burning houses and looting livestock. More than 3,000 residents have fled their homes, while several of the injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association, Bulus Dabit, confirmed the incident, saying women and children were among the victims. He added that the attackers also burnt the residence of a traditional ruler and his official vehicle. Security forces were unable to access the area until the following day due to the difficult terrain.

Some survivors described narrowly escaping the onslaught, while accusing militant herders of carrying out the assault. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) denied the allegation, condemning the attack and calling for an investigation.
In a related development, communities in neighbouring Bokkos Local Government have appealed to the military and police to pursue attackers who they say have overrun more than ten villages. Local youth leaders report that over 61 communities in the area have come under violent assaults in recent years, leaving thousands displaced.
