Nigeria’s average petrol price fell to ₦1,024.99 per litre in July, down 1.22 percent from ₦1,037.66 in June. This is according to new figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Despite the slight monthly decline, petrol prices were still 33 percent higher compared with July last year when the average stood at ₦770.54. Jigawa recorded the highest average at ₦1,107 per litre, while Zamfara had the lowest at ₦884.

The NBS report showed wide disparities across the country, with the North-West zone averaging ₦1,035 and the North-East at ₦1,017. The statistics bureau said the figures highlight ongoing volatility in fuel pricing.
Meanwhile, headline inflation slowed to 21.88 percent in July, from 22.22 percent in June. Year-on-year, the rate was down from 33.4 percent recorded in July 2024, though month-on-month inflation picked up slightly.
