The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has introduced a new initiative called ‘Media Traffic Mayor’ to support its officers in improving mobility and safety across the state.
General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki said the programme is designed to combine media influence with traffic enforcement, creating a partnership that encourages compliance, civic discipline, and public awareness. He noted that journalists and broadcasters would act as ambassadors of orderliness, amplifying advisories, countering misinformation, and promoting lawful conduct on Lagos roads.

Officials described the move as a milestone in traffic governance, stressing that enforcement alone cannot manage congestion in a megacity like Lagos. Instead, partnerships with media professionals and civic stakeholders will help drive behavioural change.
The state government under Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed its commitment to multi-faceted transport solutions that improve urban mobility and support socio-economic productivity.
