Creative entrepreneur Wale Davies, better known as Tec from the rap duo Show Dem Camp, says poor decision-making is the biggest obstacle holding back many talented artists.
Speaking on the ‘Overnight Success’ podcast, Tec argued that career progress often depends less on talent and more on choices—such as the record labels artists sign with or the teams they surround themselves with.

He stressed that the right guidance and support are essential for navigating the industry successfully. In his view, early mistakes—whether signing unfavourable contracts or working with managers lacking integrity—can derail even the most gifted performers.
Tec urged emerging creatives to prioritise strong, trustworthy partnerships as the foundation for long-term success.
