The Department of State Services has filed charges against nine people accused of deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau States. The case was lodged before a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the charges, Haruna Adamu, Muhammad Abdullahi of Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, and others still at large, allegedly carried out attacks on Abinsi and Yelwata villages in Guma, Benue State, which left more than 40 people dead and displaced hundreds.

Two other suspects, Terkende Ashuwa and Amos Alede of Guma, were separately charged with reprisal attacks, while a 32-year-old woman, Halima Haliru Umar from Faskari in Katsina State, was accused of transporting 302 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition to bandits in July.
The DSS also charged a 75-year-old man, Nanbol Tali, and Timnan Manjo with the illegal sale of two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles worth three million naira. No trial date has been fixed.
