APC stakeholders from the Northeast have called on Vice President Kashim Shettima and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to secure the vacant Humanitarian Affairs ministerial seat for the region. The portfolio became open after Nentawe Yilwatda was elected APC National Chairman.
At a press briefing in Abuja, the APC Youth Stakeholders Forum, led by Abdulkareem Jimeta, urged President Tinubu to appoint Haruna Sardauna, a former campaign coordinator and grassroots organiser, citing his loyalty and humanitarian work.

The group argued that youth appointments in Tinubu’s government are heavily skewed, with Kano alone producing 27 appointees, compared with just eight across the six Northeast states. They insisted the imbalance must be corrected, particularly in a region still grappling with the aftermath of Boko Haram.
Support for Mr. Sardauna’s candidacy has also come from other Arewa youth organisations.
