South Africa Keep Focus as Super Eagles Prepare for Clash

South Africa coach Hugo Broos says he is not distracted by next week’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, despite the meeting in Bloemfontein drawing regional attention.

The AFCON bronze medallists sit top of Group D, six points clear, and will first face Lesotho before hosting the Super Eagles at the Free State Stadium. Broos has described all fixtures as must-win matches, though he remains unfazed by Nigeria’s big-name players.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in June 2024, when Nigeria were still managed by Finidi George. Now under Eric Chelle, the Eagles are in camp ahead of their match against Rwanda in Uyo.

Felix Agu, Chidozie Awaziem, Bruno Onyemaechi, Benjamin Frederick and goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye were among 15 players already in training as Nigeria step up preparations.
