DSS Arraigns Nine People Over Killings in Benue and Plateau

DSS Arrests 30 Suspected Bandits and Informants in Kaduna Operations

The Department of State Services has arraigned nine suspects linked to recent killings in Benue and Plateau States. The suspects were brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday. The DSS also charged a suspected gunrunner found with seven M16 rifles.

Among those arraigned are Haruna Adamu and Muhammad Abdullahi from Nasarawa State, accused of involvement in the June 13 attacks on Abinsi and Yelewata villages in Benue State. Two others, Terkende Ashuwa and Amos Alede, face charges over reprisal attacks that led to property destruction and loss of cattle in Ukpam village.

The service also charged 32-year-old Halima Haliru Umar from Katsina for allegedly withholding information about a known gunrunner. In another case, Silas Iduh Oloche of Agatu in Benue is accused of unlawful possession of 18 firearms, including grenades.

Three suspects from Plateau State, including 75-year-old Nanbol Tali, face charges of trading locally made AK-47 rifles and possessing pistols without a licence. The charges follow a series of deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau that have killed hundreds and displaced thousands.
