The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has announced that reconstruction of terminal one at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has begun. In a travel advisory released on Friday, FAAN urged passengers to leave early, follow traffic instructions, and use designated parking to avoid disruptions.
The agency said only travellers will be allowed at the airport during the period of works, citing limited space. It appealed for public cooperation to ease congestion while the project is underway.

The Federal Executive Council had earlier approved contracts worth over ₦900 billion for upgrades across Nigeria’s aviation sector. The rehabilitation of terminal one in Lagos is the centrepiece of the projects.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said the ₦712 billion reconstruction will strip the terminal to its bare structure and rebuild mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The project is expected to take 22 months to complete.
