Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 13 Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State during a failed ambush on a military convoy. The attack took place on Wednesday along the Gubio–Damasak road near Kareto, where troops were escorting humanitarian trucks.
The insurgents detonated two improvised explosive devices and opened fire, but soldiers responded with heavy gunfire, neutralising 13 fighters and forcing others to flee. Weapons recovered included eight AK-47 rifles, ten magazines, and a large quantity of ammunition.

The army said a soldier was slightly injured in the encounter and is in stable condition. Four armoured vehicles sustained tyre damage and two trucks were destroyed by fire, but the humanitarian convoy was secured and safely moved to Damasak.
In a separate operation, troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a militia member at Kaskra in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. The suspect was found with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and is being interrogated after allegedly planning attacks on nearby communities.
