The Chairman of JAMB’s Special Committee on Examination Infractions, Mr. Jake Epelle, has disclosed that parents are responsible for most of the malpractice cases uncovered in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Presenting the committee’s report in Abuja, he said over 80 percent of infractions were traced back to parents eager to secure unearned marks for their children.

The panel also identified the roles played by schools, tutorial centres, and some test operators in undermining the examination. More than 4,000 cases of biometric manipulation were detected, alongside nearly 200 incidents of artificial intelligence-driven impersonation. The report further detailed instances of forged documents, multiple registrations, and false disability claims.
Mr. Epelle warned that technological advances are creating new challenges, stressing the importance of developing locally adaptable solutions. He, however, assured that JAMB’s leadership remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the examinations.
