The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man, Chibuike Azubike, for allegedly parading himself as the “Obi of Lagos”. Azubike, an indigene of Imo State, was arrested alongside three others identified as Chibuzor Ani, Martins Nwaodika, and Ikechukwu Franklin Nnadi.
Police say the group had planned to unveil a prototype of a ₦1.5 billion “Palace of Obi of Lagos State” in the Amuwo Odofin area on September p13. Security operatives sealed off the venue to stop the event and prevent members of the public from being misled.

Deputy spokesp erson of the command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the suspects have been remanded at the command headquarters in Ikeja and will face charges once investigations are complete. Tactical units including the Eko Strike Force were deployed to ensure the event did not take place.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, warned the public to be wary of impostors exploiting cultural institutions. He said such acts are unlawful and capable of disturbing public peace, adding that the command will enforce the law firmly against anyone undermining the integrity of the state.
