The Federal Capital Territory chapter of the National Association of Resident Doctors has suspended its indefinite strike. The union said doctors will return to work on Monday, 22 September.
The chapter president, George Ebong, speaking in an interview, said the decision followed the intervention of the Senate Committee on Federal Territory Area Councils and Ancillary Matters. He confirmed that none of the doctors’ demands had been met, but assurances were given of a meeting with the FCT Minister.

The FCT doctors had declared the strike last week, citing unpaid salary arrears dating back to 2023, unexplained deductions from allowances, and the failure to upgrade qualified doctors who have completed specialist training.
They are also demanding the payment of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund, five months’ arrears from the consolidated medical salary structure review, outstanding allowances, and the recognition of postgraduate membership certificates.
