Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged to prioritise the development of the state’s seaports, saying closer collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) will create jobs and stimulate growth. He gave the assurance in Port Harcourt while hosting NPA Chairman Senator Adedayo Adeyeye and board members on a courtesy visit.
Governor Fubara stressed that state governments must play a central role in interventions, recalling how his predecessor pressed for similar collaboration with the NDDC. He lamented the underutilisation of Rivers’ ports and called for a special meeting with the NPA to map out strategies for maximising Port Harcourt and Onne.
