The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the increasing attacks and killings of security operatives across Nigeria. In a message posted on his official X handle, he described the violence as tragic and unacceptable.
Obi noted that recent weeks had seen the deaths of soldiers, police officers, members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and vigilante groups. He said the recurring killings should serve as a wake-up call to leaders to properly equip and motivate the country’s security forces.

He stressed that the sacrifices of fallen security personnel must be recognised, adding that government must ensure their families are adequately compensated and supported. According to him, this is not an act of charity but justice for those who laid down their lives for national safety.
The former Anambra State governor prayed for the repose of the fallen officers and urged Nigerians to honour their sacrifice. He said their patriotism should inspire efforts to build a nation where no life is treated as valueless.
