US President Donald Trump has told world leaders at the UN General Assembly that Israel’s war in Gaza must end immediately. He said he has been deeply involved in efforts to secure a ceasefire and pressed for the release of hostages still held in Gaza.
The US President criticised recent moves by some Western nations to recognise Palestinian statehood, describing them as an undue reward for Hamas. He maintained that the group had repeatedly blocked peace efforts and should be held responsible for the continuing conflict.

While UN Secretary-General António Guterres reiterated that Palestinian statehood was a right, not a concession, critics say Israel’s actions have worsened the crisis. More than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, and the United States continues to face sharp criticism for arming Israel despite allegations of genocide.
