Bandits Kill Pregnant Woman and Others in Kwara Attacks

Customs Approves $300 Duty-Free Limit on Low-Value Imports

Bandits have killed a pregnant woman and several others in coordinated attacks on villages in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State. Residents said the assailants, who arrived on motorcycles, abducted eight people, injured several others, and stole at least 15 motorcycles.

Local sources reported that the attackers stormed Motokun, Egboro, and Fanagun villages, operating freely for hours without security intervention. A vigilante commander said the assault followed clashes the previous day between troops and bandits during which dozens of cattle were rustled.

The violence forced many villagers to flee their homes. Community leaders said a cleric was among those killed, while three Fulani men and their cattle were abducted. Residents described the attacks as part of almost weekly assaults in Patigi.

The Chairman of Patigi Local Government, Ahmed Rufai Adam, confirmed the incident, while Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq pledged that no resources would be spared to strengthen security. He urged communities to expose criminal informants and support security agencies in tackling the crisis.
