The Lagos State Government has begun a comprehensive HIV impact survey targeting more than 11,000 residents across 20 local government areas. The initiative, part of the Nigeria State-Level Antiretroviral Therapy Impact Survey, aims to measure treatment coverage, viral suppression, and improve planning for the state’s HIV response.
The exercise, scheduled between October and December 2025, will cover over 6,000 households. Participants aged 15–64 will be interviewed, tested, and counselled, with immediate results provided. Those who test positive will be confidentially linked to care and treatment.

Health officials say the findings will inform policy, strengthen systems, and support progress towards the 2030 global goal of ending HIV as a public health threat. International partners, including PEPFAR and the U.S. CDC, are backing the project, with assurances of technical and financial support throughout the exercise.
