Traffic Diversions Announced for Lagos Powerboat Championship

The Lagos State Government has unveiled extensive traffic management plans ahead of the Electric Powerboat Racing Championship (E1 Series), set to take place on the Victoria Island lagoon from October 4–5.

According to Transport Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, there will be a full road closure at the Lekki 1st junction inward Ozumba Mbadiwe during the two-day event. Motorists from Ajah heading towards Lekki are advised to make a U-turn by the pedestrian bridge to link Yesufu Abiodun, Maroko Police Station, City of David, Ligali Ayorinde, Ajose Adeogun, and Eko Hotel roundabout before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello Way, Independence Bridge, and Onikan.

Those heading from Ajah to CMS are expected to divert through Abraham Adesanya, connecting Ogonbo and Okun Ajah roads before joining the Coastal Road. Motorists from Lekki heading to Ikoyi or the mainland have been directed to use Admiralty Way through the Lekki Link Bridge, while those heading to CMS can divert via Oniru Road and Ligali Ayorinde.

Parking has been designated at nearby banks and the Law School, with LASTMA officials deployed to ensure smooth traffic during Africa’s first E1 Series event.
