CPPE Calls for Legal Protection of Investors and Employers

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, CPPE, has urged the Federal Government to establish a strong legal and policy framework to protect investors and employers in Nigeria. Its director, Muda Yusuf, said the imbalance between workers’ protections and investors’ rights undermines business confidence and weakens economic growth.

He warned that unrestrained labour actions, unpredictable regulation, and bureaucratic bottlenecks expose businesses—especially in the real sector—to significant risks. Yusuf proposed an Investor and Employer Protection Act to define rights, responsibilities, and penalties for all stakeholders while strengthening dispute resolution mechanisms.

He also recommended setting up an investment ombudsman, a business rights tribunal, and a five-year policy roadmap to promote regulatory stability. Yusuf stressed that protecting those who create jobs is vital for competitiveness, investor confidence, and sustainable national development.
