The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has rejected former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Jos, saying he had no standing to speak on behalf of the people. The party described Atiku’s remarks as politically motivated and ill-informed.
Mr. Atiku had accused the President of insensitivity for attending a funeral in Jos instead of visiting victims of insecurity in the state. But Plateau APC argued that Tinubu’s visit reflected compassion and national unity, noting that local leaders, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang, publicly acknowledged federal support for security efforts.

The party maintained that insecurity remained a shared responsibility between federal and state authorities. It said critics should focus on tangible solutions such as increased military presence rather than politicising the President’s condolence visit.
