Nigeria concluded the International Para Badminton Championship in Umuahia with an impressive haul of three gold, four silver and nine bronze medals. Abia’s Jeremiah Nnanna, Paralympian Eniola Bolaji, and Mary Nathan each secured gold in their respective events, as Brazil topped the medal table ahead of India and Peru.

The week-long tournament, the first of its kind in West Africa, featured 114 athletes from 13 countries competing in 19 events. Governor Alex Otti, who hosted the closing ceremony, approved Abia’s bid to host the championship again next year, pledging continued support for inclusion and accessibility.
