Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Returns to Senate After Six-Month Suspension

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has resumed legislative duties after completing a six-month suspension imposed earlier this year. She was seen in the chamber on Tuesday as the Senate reconvened from a 10-week recess, with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin presiding.

Her suspension in March followed a dispute over the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which sparked controversy and public criticism. During her absence, her office in the Senate Wing remained sealed until recently reopened by parliamentary authorities.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return comes amid continued tensions between her and the Senate leadership. Notably, Mr Akpabio was absent from Tuesday’s sitting, though attendance among senators was high, signalling a return to full legislative activity after weeks of recess and internal disagreement.
