Youth Council Stages Protest over Deregistration by CAC

Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, staged a protest at the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, demanding the reversal of the council’s deregistration. The protest, led by NYCN President Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, marked the start of a 30-day nationwide demonstration calling for the removal of CAC Registrar-General Hussaini Ishaq Magaji.

Protesters accused the Commission of contempt, alleging the action was taken despite a pending case before the Court of Appeal. They carried placards urging respect for court orders and warning that the move undermined youth representation.

The CAC, through its acting Registrar-General Julius Hanga, said the deregistration was temporary and intended to allow all legal and administrative matters to be resolved before the council’s reinstatement.
