Lagos Issues Two-Week Ultimatum to Developers at Trade Fair Complex

The Lagos State Government has given property owners and developers at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, a two-week deadline to obtain valid building approvals or face renewed demolition of illegal structures. The move follows an earlier partial demolition targeting buildings erected without official consent.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, said the exercise is guided by law and global best practices, rejecting claims of political bias. He described the complex as unsafe and poorly regulated, posing serious risks to public safety.

Dr Olumide added that the enforcement aligns with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda and Sustainable Development Goal 11. He stressed that all structures in Lagos must possess valid planning permits, noting that ownership disputes are not the focus of the ongoing operation.
