Family, friends, and colleagues gathered in Lagos on Friday to celebrate the appointment of Dr Adesola Pitan, Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital, Odan, as a Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service. The event marked a major milestone in a distinguished medical career dedicated to public service and institutional growth.
Before his current role, Dr Pitan served as Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital, Orile-Agege, where he oversaw extensive infrastructure upgrades, expanded emergency and diagnostic services, and strengthened community health outreach. His tenure was also noted for improving staff welfare, modernising hospital management systems, and enhancing the quality of patient care.

At the celebration, speakers described Dr Pitan as a visionary leader and reformer. Dr Akinyele Akinlade, Deputy Medical Director at Lagos General Hospital, praised his pragmatic leadership style. Dr Temitope Bakare of Orile-Agege General Hospital commended his achievements in service delivery and staff motivation, while Senior Nurse Wasidat Olabisi highlighted his compassion, dedication, and commitment to patient comfort.
In his remarks, Dr Pitan expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and health leaders for their support. He pledged to continue advancing accessible healthcare by fostering stronger collaboration between state and local governments. The evening ended with cultural performances, prayers, and goodwill messages celebrating his service and integrity.
