Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has expressed concern over what she describes as the growing toxicity of social media, saying the environment has become unsafe for her peace of mind. The 58-year-old made a rare return to Instagram after months of silence, explaining that she withdrew to protect her wellbeing.
Ms. Doyle, who studied Theatre Arts at the University of Jos, has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning television, film, and broadcasting, with credits in ‘Sitanda’, ‘Across the Niger’, and ‘Torn’. She also created and hosted the long-running lifestyle show ‘Oge with Iretiola’.

A respected figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, Ms. Doyle said she now prioritises a quieter life away from online pressures. She was previously married to broadcaster Patrick Doyle.
