The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has accused the Federal Government of insincerity in its approach to collective bargaining and neglect of public universities. Dr. Adefemi Afolabi, chairman of ASUU’s University of Ibadan chapter, said on a radio programme in Ibadan that the union’s patience had been stretched despite months of dialogue.
ASUU began a two-week warning strike on Monday to protest the government’s failure to sign the renegotiated agreement produced by the Yayale Ahmed committee. Dr. Afolabi described the decision to restart negotiations as a waste of time and a sign of the government’s lack of seriousness.
