Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has cautioned Nigerians against measuring their lives by what they see on social media. In a video shared on Instagram, he warned that many online displays of wealth and luxury are carefully staged to create false impressions of success.
AY said several influencers and celebrities borrow outfits, pose in hotel lobbies, or use other people’s cars to appear glamorous. He likened social media to a movie set, where appearances are often scripted and far from reality.

The comedian urged his followers to focus on self-improvement rather than comparison, stressing that authenticity and contentment bring more peace than chasing illusions. He concluded with a reminder that not everything you see online is real.
