Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2060 and providing universal access to modern energy by 2030. Environment Minister Balarabe Lawal announced this at the opening of the first International Conference on Climate Change and Just Energy Transition in Abuja.
The event, organised by the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), brought together policymakers, scientists, and investors to advance climate resilience and equitable energy solutions across West Africa.
