President Bola Tinubu has announced a sweeping shake-up in Nigeria’s military leadership, appointing new service chiefs across the armed forces. The decision was disclosed in a statement on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.
Under the new appointments, Major General Olufemi Oluyede becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. W. Shaibu has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff.

In the Navy, Vice Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the new Chief of Naval Staff, while Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence. The appointments take immediate effect.
The changes mark the first major overhaul of the military command under President Tinubu’s administration and are expected to influence ongoing security operations across the country.
