The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has warned politicians and stakeholders in Anambra State against any form of violence during the November 8 governorship election.
Speaking at a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security in Abuja, the NSA, represented by the Director of Internal Security, Hassan Abdullahi, said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring a peaceful and credible poll. He called on political leaders to promote peace and urged citizens to support a process that reflects the country’s shared values and aspirations.

Ribadu said the government has enhanced surveillance, increased the deployment of security personnel, and strengthened intelligence gathering to prevent any attempt by “destructive elements” to disrupt the election. He also affirmed that security forces would act under President Bola Tinubu’s directive to protect the integrity of the process.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of 45,000 officers for the election. He said only security agencies officially represented in the committee, including the Police, DSS, NSCDC, and the military, will participate in the operation, warning that vigilante groups will not be allowed to play any role.
