Over 100 Palestinians Killed as Israel Resumes Strikes on Gaza

More than 100 Palestinians, including 46 children, have been killed in overnight Israeli strikes on Gaza, despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States. Gaza’s Ministry of Health said 253 others were injured in the attacks, which hit areas in Khan Younis, Deir el-Balah, and the north of the enclave.

President Donald Trump has defended Israel’s actions, calling them “retribution” for the reported killing of an Israeli soldier in southern Gaza. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he said Israel had the right to “hit back,” while insisting the ceasefire remains in place. Hamas denied responsibility for the soldier’s death and reaffirmed its commitment to the truce.

The Israeli military said it had reinstated the ceasefire after what it described as targeted strikes on “terror positions.” However, international leaders including the Qatari Prime Minister and Britain’s Keir Starmer expressed concern, urging both sides to uphold the agreement and prevent further civilian casualties.

Aid groups have condemned the strikes, with Save the Children calling reports of children killed “excruciating.” Observers say the situation highlights deep mistrust between the parties, with experts warning that continued violence could turn the ceasefire into what one analyst described as an “indefinite occupation with no end in sight.”
