The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the permanent forfeiture of $49,700 recovered from former INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Sokoto, Nura Ali, during the 2023 general elections. Justice Emeka Nwite granted the order after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission confirmed compliance with an earlier directive for temporary forfeiture.
The ICPC told the court that a public notice had invited any interested parties to claim the money, but none came forward. Justice Nwite ruled that the application was meritorious and approved its final forfeiture to the Federal Government.

The funds were seized by operatives of the DSS during a search at Ali’s residence in Kano. Investigators said the cash, allegedly received as a “gift,” was suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity.
