Former President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has denied allegations of mismanaging funds for the FIFA Goal Project in Kebbi State, describing the controversy as a misunderstanding. The dispute followed a FIFA social media post showing the unfinished Kebbi Stadium, sparking public anger over the $1.2 million project.
Speaking to the press, Mr Pinnick said that FIFA’s strict auditing standards ensure transparency, noting that the project’s $1.1 million allocation in 2020 was worth less than ₦400 million. He said the pandemic delayed work but no additional funds were added, insisting everything went according to plan.
