Nigeria, Netherlands Deepen Customs Cooperation to Boost Trade Efficiency

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has led a Nigerian delegation to the Netherlands for a two-day bilateral visit focused on trade facilitation, port efficiency, and border management. The visit, held between 29 and 31 October, featured a series of technical sessions and strategic meetings with senior Dutch Customs officials in Rotterdam.

At the Dutch Customs Headquarters, the team received briefings on tariff classification and origin procedures, followed by a presentation on risk profiling and cargo monitoring led by experts from the Netherlands Customs National Tactical Centre.

Mr Adeniyi commended the Dutch model for its data-driven approach to enforcement and compliance. He reaffirmed Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to international best practices that promote legitimate trade while safeguarding revenue and national security interests.
