Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has pledged to deliver 99 percent of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He made the declaration in Yenagoa on Monday during a ceremony officially welcoming him to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The event, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several APC governors, underscored the growing influence of the party in the South-South. Governor Diri said he joined the APC after what he called “direction” from the Federal Government.

Promising unity within the party, the governor said his defection was guided by a desire to align Bayelsa with what he described as Tinubu’s supportive posture toward the Ijaw people.
