Nigeria’s ambition to build a $1 trillion economy by 2030 depends heavily on the strength and professionalism of its security institutions.
This is according to the National Economic Council Committee on the Overhaul of Security Training Institutions. The committee, chaired by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, began inspecting police training facilities in Lagos on Tuesday, calling the exercise an urgent national priority.
At the Police College in Ikeja, Mbah described the dilapidated infrastructure as evidence of the pressing need for reform to restore pride and efficiency in the security sector. He said meaningful economic growth cannot occur without a safe and well-policed environment.
