Army Destroys 14 Illegal Refineries, Arrests 14 in Fresh Niger Delta Crackdown

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division have arrested 14 suspected oil thieves and dismantled 14 illegal refining hubs across the Niger Delta region. More than 20,000 litres of stolen petroleum products were confiscated during a series of raids between October 20 and November 9.

The operations, conducted in Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States, targeted major illegal refining sites, leading to multiple arrests and the recovery of vehicles and equipment used in crude oil theft.

Acting Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah said the Division would sustain its offensive against economic saboteurs. Major General Emmanuel Emekah commended the troops for their vigilance and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s vital oil infrastructure.
