The Lagos State Government has announced a 25 percent subsidy on essential food items to cushion the impact of rising prices ahead of the festive season. The discounted foods—rice, beans, garri, bread, and pepper—will be available at the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Mushin.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, said the state has also launched the second phase of the Ounje Eko Farmers’ Subsidy Programme to support food producers. The initiative includes a 25 percent subsidy on poultry and fish feeds, alongside free grain distribution to pig farmers.

Ms. Olusanya noted that the interventions complement Lagos’ ‘Produce for Lagos’ agenda, which aims to strengthen local food systems, stabilise prices, and ensure residents enjoy an affordable and sustainable festive season.
