The legal team of Nnamdi Kanu has announced plans to appeal the Federal High Court judgment sentencing the IPOB leader to life imprisonment. His counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, addressed journalists shortly after Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling, which imposed life terms on four counts and additional concurrent sentences ranging from five to twenty years.
Ejimakor criticised the judgment, saying the defence would immediately approach the Court of Appeal to review what he described as a troubling precedent. He argued that the verdict did not align with evidence presented in court, insisting that the conviction appeared to rest on spoken words rather than proven actions.

He added that, if necessary, the case would proceed to the Supreme Court, expressing confidence that higher courts would overturn the ruling.
