President Bola Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency amid escalating attacks by bandits and terrorists, directing the police and military to recruit additional personnel. The police are authorised to recruit 20,000 more officers, while the armed forces will expand manpower to strengthen operations in high-risk areas.
The Department of State Services has been instructed to deploy trained forest guards to flush out criminals and recruit more personnel to secure the nation’s forests. Officers withdrawn from VIP duties will undergo crash training for redeployment to troubled regions.

President Tinubu called on the National Assembly to review laws to allow states to establish state police and urged herders to end open grazing and surrender illegal weapons. He praised security forces for recent rescues and urged citizens to remain vigilant, calm, and cooperative.
