The death toll from the massive fire at the Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district has reached 146, with dozens more injured and many residents still unaccounted for.
At a news conference on Sunday, authorities said at least another 100 people remain unaccounted for and 79 were injured.
They also announced that they had launched an investigation into possible safety failures, including the use of flammable renovation materials such as bamboo scaffolding and foam-covered windows.
Several people have been arrested on suspicion of negligence, while displaced families are receiving support from emergency services.

Officials warn that recovery and rescue operations may continue for several days as the city mourns one of its deadliest fires in recent history.
