Producer Files ₦1bn Suit Against Nollywood Guilds Over Suspension

Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has formally rejected his indefinite suspension by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).

He has described the disciplinary action as unlawful and filed a demand letter threatening a ₦1 billion lawsuit if they do not retract the suspension and issue a public apology.

Arimoro’s legal team argues that he is not a member of the guilds and is therefore beyond their disciplinary authority.

The row follows a reported on-set altercation involving Arimoro and actress Peggy Ovire on the set of the movie “Pieces of Love,” which the guilds claimed warranted the sanctions.
