Authorities in Bayelsa State have not issued an official statement on the reported death of Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, even as the Peoples Democratic Party announced his passing on Thursday. The party said it learned of the development after he collapsed earlier in the day.
According to the PDP, the deputy governor slumped at the Government House in Yenagoa on Thursday afternoon and was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, where he was reported to be in critical condition. The party described him as a committed public servant and expressed condolences to his family and colleagues.
PDP National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong said the National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, received the news with sadness and is mourning alongside the state leadership. He praised the deputy governor’s role in the party and his contributions to governance in Bayelsa.
