Ahmed Musa has announced his retirement from international football, bringing to an end a 15-year career with Nigeria’s Super Eagles. The former Leicester City forward confirmed the decision on Wednesday, describing his time with the national team as a source of pride.
Musa made his debut for Nigeria as a teenager and went on to earn 111 caps, making him the most capped player in the country’s history. He was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 and also served as team captain during his career.
He remains Nigeria’s highest goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup, with four goals, including two against Argentina at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and another brace against Iceland at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Now 33, Musa currently manages Kano Pillars, where he began his professional career. His retirement follows the recent international exit of defender William Troost-Ekong, as Nigeria continues a generational transition within the national team.
