About 130 of the remaining schoolchildren abducted in Niger State have been freed, authorities said in a statement today. The pupils were among students taken from St Mary’s Private Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
Security forces acted following directives from the federal government to secure their release after earlier operations recovered other abductees.
President Bola Tinubu urged continued efforts to end the kidnapping incidents and ensure the safety of all schoolchildren in the area.
