The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Radda, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming state governors alone for the worsening economic hardship, saying the Federal Government controls the largest share of revenue from the Federation Account. He said the revenue-sharing arrangement limits the capacity of states to meet growing public demands.
Speaking in an interview with Radio France Internationale Hausa, Governor Radda said the Federal Government receives 52 percent of monthly federation revenue, while the remaining 48 percent is shared among the 36 states and 774 local government councils.
The governor said public anger over hardship is often directed at governors and local council chairmen, despite the Federal Government taking the largest portion of national revenue. He questioned how the bulk of federally retained funds have been utilised over the years.

Governor Radda also rejected broad allegations of corruption against state governors, saying leadership should be assessed on an individual basis. He said his administration continues to invest in capital projects, adding that infrastructure development creates jobs and stimulates economic activity across local government areas in Katsina State.
