One hundred and sixty eight Palestinian doctors have graduated with specialist medical certifications in Gaza City, holding their ceremony at the heavily damaged al-Shifa Medical Complex, once the largest hospital in the territory.
The graduation took place on Thursday in front of the destroyed hospital buildings, with the doctors describing themselves as the Humanity Cohort, after completing their Palestinian Board examinations during two years of war.
Gaza health officials said many of the graduates studied and worked under extreme conditions, including shortages of food, medicine and electricity, while some were injured, detained or lost family members during the conflict.

The ceremony also commemorated healthcare workers killed in the war, as officials warned that Gaza’s health system remains severely weakened, with only about half of the territory’s hospitals partially functional and thousands of patients still in need of evacuation and urgent care.
